A coroner wept today as the families of two murdered medical students spoke of their 'utterly horrific loss' after their 'brilliant' sons were stabbed to death in Borneo.
Newcastle University students Aidan Brunger, from Kent, and Neil Dalton, from Ambergate in Derbyshire, were killed in the unprovoked attack in Kuching, Sarawak, on the island of Borneo on August 6 last year.
The country's high court sentenced 'evil' fishmonger Zulkipli Abdullah, 23, to death for the murder in March, and today, senior coroner for Derby and Derbyshire Robert Hunter ruled that both students were unlawfully killed.
