British man and wife 'hacked to death' in Tobago
A British man and his wife have been brutally murdered at their home on the Caribbean island of Tobago. Lawyer Richard Wheeler, 73, was found "face down in a pool of blood with chop wounds to both arms and the back of the head". A gardener found his wife, Grace Wheeler, dead on the lawn with a cut to her neck on Tuesday morning, according to a police statement. Officers then discovered Mr Wheeler dead inside the house in the village of Carnbee. His wife was a local woman who reportedly worked as an estate agent. A Foreign Office spokesman said: "Following the death of a British national in Tobago on October 20, our staff are travelling to the island to support family members at this difficult time. "They will also meet senior police officers investigating this terrible crime after our High Commissioner spoke with Trinidad and Tobago's Police Commissioner earlier today." Richard Wheeler is not the first expat to be savagely attacked in Tobago - there have been a number of violent attacks in recent years. In 2009, Britons Murium and Peter Green, from Reading, were left for dead after a machete attack. They suffered horrific injuries, but survived. A Swedish couple died in a similar attack in 2008. And only last year German couple Hubertus Keil, 74, and wife Brigid, 71, were chopped to death on the tiny island. The murders were never solved, leading to speculation the crimes could be linked. http://www.msn.com/en-au/news/world/...ago/ar-BBmjyy0 Linked to racism? You'd think they'd say it... I won't hold my breath... |

The mother of a South Carolina murder victim was facing the man accused of killing her son. The accused killer smiled as she recounted her loss, before telling her, in court, “Shut the f— up.” Jamal Green, who turned 18 last week, is among four people charged in connection with the April 20 killing of 43-year-old Eric Brantley in North Charleston, S.C. As the Charleston Post and Courier reported, Brantley’s mother, Suzanne Sentner, attended Monday’s bond hearing for Green, who faces charges of armed robbery and murder, and she read a statement directed at Green. ![]() Federal report condemns ICE for failing to deport undocumented immigrant who fatally stabbed Connecticut woman The undocumented immigrant who fatally stabbed a 25-year-old woman last year in Connecticut wouldn’t have still been in the country if immigration officials had done a better job, according to a damning watchdog report released this month. Before fatally stabbing Casey Chadwick in June 2015, Jean Jacques had already served time for attempted murder — but despite his violent past, immigration officials still released him into the U.S. instead of returning him to his native Haiti. The three Democratic lawmakers who requested the inquiry called the findings “alarming.” One of the problems cited was the massive caseloads for officers supervising immigrants who — like Jacques — can’t be successfully deported. “The caseloads of Deportation Officers in the field make personalized follow-up with the aliens under their supervision functionally impossible,” the report said. In the Newark enforcement office, there are just three to four deportation officers managing 37,000 immigrants. Fed report blasts ICE for not deporting Conn. woman's killer - NY Daily News |
