"The U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear a case in which a Michigan township changed its zoning laws to prevent a Christian school from entering the community.
“This is a deeply disappointing decision, not only because of what it means for our clients, but because it will embolden other cities and towns across the country to keep religious organizations from contributing to their community,” said Hiram Sasser, general counsel to First Liberty, which represents Livingston Christian Schoolin the case against Genoa Charter Township.
“We are extremely disappointed the Supreme Court will allow this terrible precedent to stand.”
For a case to be heard, it must have the support of at least four justices.
The decision came after the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled it isn’t a burden on religious exercise for a “city to use its zoning laws to prevent a religious school, church, synagogue, or mosque from moving into town.”
At the time of the 6th Circuit ruling in 2017, Sasser warned that letting the decision stand would endanger churches and religious institutions.
The case developed in 2016 when Livingston found a new location on the property of Brighton Church of the Nazarene.
The local planning commission approved the plan, the community supported it and even experts summoned by the township were in favour.
Then the town council rejected the application.
First Liberty said at the time the township “threatened the survival of the school as a religious institution because, as the record demonstrates, the school has no viable alternative location.”
Sasser said the city refused to let the Christian school move to the church “or, for that matter, anywhere else in town” despite the fact “federal law expressly prohibits the government using zoning laws to keep religious institutions out of their town.”
Livingston had been operating in nearby Pinckney, but it needed more room, and the facility it was in became unaffordable, the legal team said.
“They found only one viable option. LCS entered into an agreement with Brighton Church of the Nazarene to lease one of its buildings to house the school.”
But the plan went down in flames when the township board rejected the presence of the school “anywhere within Genoa Township,” the team said.
Principal Ted Nast said the school already had lost students because of the town’s opposition, and its survival was in doubt."

Bavaria orders Christian Crosses to be displayed on government buildings.

Bavaria has been showing resistance to Merkel and her policies.

Bavarian Minister President Markus Söder stated that the Cross signifies a Christian cultural identity:

Horst Seehofer, Germany’s federal Interior Minister and the former head of Bavaria, has been a thorn in Merkel’s side when it comes to migration and worsening relations with Russia.

He has warned Brussels against the "arrogance and paternalism” the EU had been showing to member states like Hungary.

Seehofer was also quoted in the news recently stating that "Islam doesn't belong to Germany."

A bakery run by evangelical Christians is to launch a fresh attempt to overturn a £500 award made against it for refusing to bake a cake promoting same-sex marriage.

Ashers bakery, which has branches in Northern Ireland and is financially supported by the Christian Institute, is taking its claim to the supreme court on Tuesday, which is sitting in Belfast this week.

The firm has twice been found to have discriminated on the grounds of sexual orientation after it cancelled an order by a gay activist in 2014 for a cake decorated with the slogan: “Support gay marriage”.

Gareth Lee had specified the motto for an event to mark International Day Against Homophobia. Same-sex marriage is not legally recognised in Northern Ireland.

When Ashers refused to bake the cake, which was to have depicted the Sesame Street characters Bert and Ernie, Lee sued. His case against the family-owned bakery has been supported by the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.

Lee, a volunteer member of the LGBT advocacy group Queer Space, told the initial hearing in 2015 that the refusal made him “feel I’m not worthy, a lesser person and to me that was wrong”. The firm maintained it was a response to the message, not the customer."

"Trump Takes Massive Stand for Christians Against Islamist Butchers

          BY JOE SAUNDERS
          MAY 1, 2018

"At a time of tragedy for Christians in Africa, President Donald Trump is taking a stand.
When Trump stood on the White House lawn on Monday for a joint news conference with the president of Nigeria, he made a statement supporting Christians on the continent that drew little notice from the White House press corps, but echoed for religious communities around the world.

In the appearance with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, Trump deplored the ongoing religious attacks on churches in Nigeria by mainly Muslim herdsmen from the dominant Fulani tribe.
“We are deeply concerned by religious violence in Nigeria including the burning of churches and the killing and persecution of Christians. It’s a horrible story,” Trump said, according to Christianity Today.
“We encourage Nigeria and the federal state and local leaders to do everything in their power to immediately secure the affected communities and to protect innocent civilians of all faiths, including Muslims, and including Christians.”
To most listeners, that might have sounded like an even-handed statement. But it probably carried a good deal of meaning to Christian churches in Africa as well as the Muslim government of Nigeria. Because in Nigeria today, the news is more about Muslims butchering Christians rather than the other way around.
It’s Fulani herdsmen who are the chief suspects in an attack on a morning Mass in central Nigeria on April 24 that killed 19 Christians, including two priests, according to CNN.

And making Trump’s message even more pointed: Buhari himself is a Muslim who has endorsed instituting Shariah law in the country’s Muslim north, according to the BBC. He is also a member of the Fulani tribe, according to The Guardian.
However, Buhari was elected in large part because Nigerians believed he could end the country’s chronic Muslim insurgency, BBC reported. A retired major general in the Nigerian army, he actually ran the country as its military ruler from January 1984 until he was deposed in a coup in August of 1985, according to the BBC.

After the April 24 slaughter in Nigeria’s Benue state, Buhari issued a statement condemning the violence:
“Violating a place of worship, killing priests and worshippers is not only vile, evil and satanic, it is clearly calculated to stoke up religious conflict and plunge our communities into endless bloodletting,” he said, according to Reuters.

The Nigerian nation knows a lot about terrorist bloodletting. It has been plagued by the terrorists of the Boko Haram group for years. With the government seemingly impotent, some individuals have taken the fight into their own hands.

At the White House on Monday, Buhari partially blamed the unrest in his country on instability spreading throughout the continent from Libya, according to a White House transcript of the event.
However, no one has been arrested in connection with the Benue attack and Trump clearly wants the Nigerian government to take a stronger stand against the killers.

“We’ve had very serious problems with Christians who have been murdered, killed in Nigeria. We’re going to be working on that problem, and working on that problem very, very hard, because we can’t allow that to happen,” he said.
No one familiar with Nigeria today — including the Muslim butchers attacking Christians — could have misunderstood that statement. Because behind the even-handed tone, Trump was taking a stand."

"A Colorado-based ministry has been forced to cancel summer conferences for young adults in California because of legislation there that would ban biblical views on sexual identity.

AB 2943, a measure currently working its way through the California legislature, would make it illegal, under fraud laws, to sell books or counsel someone or have a conference speaker who affirms the possibility that one can lessen or get rid of same-sex attraction. There look to be few roadblocks to keep it from becoming law – but even though it’s not even law yet, it appears to already be having an effect on a Christian ministry.

Dr. Jeff Myers, president of Summit Ministries, describes AB 2943 as “the most blatant chilling of free speech in America in my lifetime” – and says it leaves him with little to say to a young person who comes to one of their courses and is experiencing sexual confusion.

“They ask us all the time, How does my faith work with this?” he shares. “And we’d essentially have to say the state of California forbids us from allowing a biblical ethic – embraced by billions of people for thousands of years – to inform our answer to your question.”

In response to the legislation, Summit has decided to cancel its two summer conferences at Biola University near Los Angeles, over concerns that the state will forbid some of what Summit teaches. But Myers says they don’t plan to leave the attendees high and dry.

“We’re suspending our programs in California – and then [we’re] taking all of those students and flying them to our other locations to be with us this summer throughout the United States,” he informs. The two conferences were scheduled for June 10-23 and June 24-July 7.

“California state authorities are hijacking good-faith concerns about reparative therapy to deny constitutional protection to those who hold traditional views of sexuality and marriage,” Myers adds in a press release. “We cannot and will not bend God’s truth to accommodate the state of California.”

Myers says he hopes someone challenges the law, but it can’t be him because it’s not his life that could possibly be derailed. “I just can’t do that to the young staff members I have,” he explains, “and I want to be able to promise parents that when their child comes to us we will have a safe environment.”

OneNewsNow spoke with Pastor Manuel Gonzales of Calvary Chapel in Winnetka, near LA. He might be the one to challenge the law.

“We are going to purposely record a sermon about God’s view of homosexuality and human sexuality,” he offers. “And my plan is to send one of these CDs to the people who have sponsored this bill – and I’m also going to include a gift card to Chick-fil-A to say thank you to them.”

According to Myers, Summit is committed to purchase airplane tickets for every student who needs help to relocate to one of the other scheduled conferences."

"During a National Day of Prayer observance at the White House on Thursday, President Donald Trump announced the creation of a new office in his administration aimed at protecting Americans’ religious liberty.

The White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative “will help design new policies that recognize the vital role of faith in our families, our communities and our great country,” Trump said at the Rose Garden event.

“This office will also help ensure that faith-based organizations have equal access to government funding and the equal right to exercise their deeply held beliefs,” he explained.

“We take this step because we know that, in solving the many, many problems and our great challenges, faith is more powerful than government, and nothing is more powerful than God,” Trump stated.

Among other responsibilities, the new office will be tasked with informing the administration of any failures in the executive branch in protecting the religious freedom of Americans.

An executive order on religious liberty signed by the president on Thursday states, “It shall be the policy of the executive branch to vigorously enforce Federal law’s robust protections for religious freedom.”

The order noted that it was the vision of the Founding Fathers that the United States would be a place where people could freely “practice their faith without fear of discrimination or retaliation by the Federal Government.”

The order also specifically directs the Treasury Department, which includes the IRS, not to target churches or faith-based groups for speaking out on political issues.

“In particular, the Secretary of the Treasury shall ensure, to the extent permitted by law, that the Department of the Treasury does not take any adverse action against any individual, house of worship, or other religious organization on the basis that such individual or organization speaks or has spoken about moral or political issues from a religious perspective,” the document reads.

CBN News reported that evangelist Franklin Graham praised the move, saying, “I’m extremely grateful that we have a president who realizes the importance of prayer, faith, and religious freedoms to our nation.”

Johnnie Moore, an unofficial spokesman for the president’s group of faith advisers, also expressed appreciation for the Trump administration’s actions.

“This executive order is the product of the President’s unwavering prioritization of faith and religious liberty and reflects the smart work of people like Jared Kushner and advisers in the policy and public liaison divisions who met with hundreds and hundreds of leaders and government officials to assess ways in which the government can partner more effectively with communities of faith,” Moore said.

During last year’s National Day of Prayer, Trump — in keeping with a campaign promise — signed an executive order directing the IRS not to enforce the Johnson Amendment, which prohibits churches and nonprofits from “directly or indirectly” engaging in political activity.

That order also granted faith-based groups, such as Little Sisters of the Poor, relief from the regulatory requirements of Obamacare, including the contraception mandate.

In a proclamation issued on Thursday recognizing the National Day of Prayer, Trump stated, “Prayer has been a source of guidance, strength, and wisdom since the founding of our Republic.”

The proclamation pointed out that the Founders captured in the Declaration of Independence the nation’s core beliefs “that all men and women are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Trump exhorted, “On this National Day of Prayer, let us come together, all according to their faiths, to thank God for His many blessings and ask for His continued guidance and strength.”

"This vandalism could have been done by militant atheists, angry ex-Catholics, any number of people. But such people have been in Germany for years, and there has not been significant vandalism of churches. However, Germany has seen a large influx of Muslim migrants in recent years, many of whom believe that it is an insult to Allah to say that Jesus died on the cross (which the Qur’an also denies at 4:157), and that representations of the human form are temptations to idolatry. Could it be possible that Muslim migrants are behind this vandalism? Or would that be “Islamophobic” even to consider?"

                    Re: CHRISTIAN News.

                    https://constitution.com/dont-be-dec...royal-wedding/

"Michael Curry, the first African-American to be primate of the Episcopal Church – a US branch of the Church of England – was invited to speak at the royal shindig by the former Miss Markle herself. After his appearance, many on both sides of the pond hailed the Bishop’s speech as a cogent appeal during turbulent times. And at first blush, without much inspection of the address, it seems quite innocuous. But when some thought is put into what Curry actually said and what his influences were for the concepts he related, it is shocking just how off base — even irreligious — the speech was.
When the actual words are parsed, a close review of what Curry said shows that he was not talking about God’s love. He was talking about man’s love and man’s love is not the pure act that he portrayed it to be.
Indeed, man’s act of love can be skewed to excuse all sorts of evils. And Curry didn’t take any of that into account with his words.
But before I get into Curry’s address any farther, let’s also point out that the Bishop is just another hate-filled, left-winger who works to destroy the U.S.A. Indeed his next act is to attend a protest against President Donald Trump, a leader whom the bishop calls “dangerous.”
It appears that Curry’s next public appearance will be at a protest march in Washington D.C. on May 24, according to the UK Mirror.
Curry also recently signed a letter calling Trump’s presidency “a theological heresy for followers of Christ” meaning that if you are Christian you can’t be a Republican.
As when fans tell sports media and players to “stick to sports,” I wish Bishop Curry would stick to religion and leave politics to people who know what they are talking about.
So, with all this, it should not be a surprise that Curry’s “love” address was itself a “heresy” against the Christian religion.
The topic of love is a very misunderstood one for many Americans. Like with the gay movement, “love” is assumed to be an emotion beyond all reproach. All one need do is “love” and all is right with anything said person does. But this idea is based on a childish and improper view of what love is.
After all, love can be dangerous, too. One can love communism, one can love sadism, or any number of bad things. Is “love” of dangerous things justified just because it is love? No one would say yes to that, for sure. But when one warbles on about love like Curry did during the royal wedding, one is left with a facile, irreligious, even dangerous mishmash of nonsense, and empty idea posing as wisdom.
Sadly that is what we got from this supposedly intelligent man of god, nonsense empty of wisdom.
Curry conflated an awful lot of things in his address to the the British people. His version of “love” was not Biblically based even though he tried to pretend it is. For instance, at one point in his speech he hinted that “love” must somehow mean that the world would become a “sanctuary,” hinting that there would be open borders and nations would not exist. Because, you see, the opposite of love is hate and hate is what keeps people out.
But this is not a legitimate way to look at love. Securing your borders to make sure that you have control over your resources, your homes, and your government is not “hate.” it is not the opposite of “love.” But in Curry’s irreligious and, frankly, socialist world-view, nationhood and secure borders is “hate.”
In addition, Curry’s act of love is excusatory. In his version we are to simply open our arms wide to just anyone for any reason regardless of their actions, their ideology, or their aims and goals. This is also not a Christian ideal. Jesus did tell us to love everyone as we would love ourselves. But he taught us to love the person, but not to automatically love their sins. In other words, we are to love people even as we condemn their evil actions. Christians are to love the sinner and try to help them stop sinning, not to simply act like an enabler for their evil actions. Jesus did not mean for love to be an excuse.
But, in Curry’s mindless version of “love” we would have no room for judgment of people’s actions and with his version of “love” we could only fully accept every bad thing they do. This is simply not a Christian world view.
Lewis Dovland of American Thinker made another fine point showing how Curry’s blind form of “love” is empty of all logic. Curry cited Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “love” as an example of the sort of non0violent leadership that we should see employed universally. But as Doyland noted, that sort of facile thinking is not a universal truth.
                    As Doyland cogently noted:
The nonviolent movement worked for Dr. King and the Civil Rights movement because America is a good country, with a moral population who obeys the law. But had he or Gandhi tried their movements in Nazi Germany, they would have been crushed under the jackboot, just as Europe today is being undercut by the misguided policies of its leaders.
Exactly right. The simple fact is, the sort of nonviolent “love” Curry rambled about is a fool’s errand in the face of invading Muslim hordes who see nonviolent “love” as no obstacle to their evil ends at all. It is, in fact, as a joke easily brushed aside to subdue and murder everyone who they feel don’t sufficiently “love” Muhammad.
So, don’t be fooled by Bishop Curry’s addled address. It really wasn’t the wonderful sentiment that liberals want you to think it is.”

                    .

The application was turned down because the center is owned by the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The church had a morals clause in the agreement under which Holladay Investors was managing it the centre.

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released the following statement about the transfer of all of its missionaries out of Nicaragua:
In light of continued violence and deteriorating conditions in Nicaragua, the Church has decided to transfer the remaining 158 missionaries out of that country. Those missionaries are being moved to temporary assignments in North America, South America, the Caribbean and New Zealand. Most of these missionaries have already left the country. All others awaiting travel are in a safe location and will arrive in their new assignments in the next several days.
As part of this move, the Nicaragua Managua South Mission president and his young family have left the country and returned home. The Nicaragua Managua North Mission president and his companion will remain in Nicaragua for the time being to take care of some ecclesiastical responsibilities over local Church members.
The Church will continue to monitor developments in Nicaragua and make a decision in the future regarding the eventual return of missionaries. In the meantime, we pray for peace and stability for all who live there during this uncertain time."

"You may know Ariana Grande for popular songs, “Dangerous Woman, “Break Free,” “FOCUS,” or for her countless appearances on SNL. Her single, “God is A Woman” deserves EXTREME caution.
The single “God Is A Woman,” is making headlines across the country. Within two weeks of its release, the song has already streamed 70 million times on Spotify, and sadly, will only go up from there.
Part of suggestive lyrics read, “You love it how I touch you. My one, when all is said and done, you believe God is a woman….” In traditional pop-music fashion, the song is catchy and fans and radios listeners across the country are already singing it, but, there are some obvious issues with Grande’s statement that God is a woman.
Grande is on the cover of August’s ELLE Magazine with a headline reading the same as her song, “GOD IS A WOMAN,” in all caps. As Grande’s song makes its way through the pop culture conversation, it is important that we be mindful it preaches false doctrine.
In her music video, Grande appears nude with only minor suggestive “artistic” coverings. Grande’s background dancers also appear nude with strategically placed soap suds. The video, which was released mid-July takes place in space as Grande straddles planet Earth while moving the clouds with her own hand. Additionally, she appears in the flame of a lit candle, floating in a multi-colored lake barely covering any of her private parts.
At one point, a larger-than-life Grande watches as men, who appear beneath her, shout profanities at her as she brushes them off. She also appears pregnant in a portion of the video, communicating the power of child-bearing “mother earth….”
The song and music video showcase explicit blasphemy. There is a scene in the music video where Grande holds a giant hammer while wearing a helmet with kitten ears (one of her signature looks) as she states, “And, I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my sisters, and you will know my name is the lord, when I lay my vengeance upon you…”, which is a changed reading of Ezekiel 25:17 that Quentin Tarantino’s PULP FICTION also used. The passage, however, is describing God’s judgment on the Gentile nations, specifically Philistia. So obviously, Grande takes the verse out of its context to fit her own needs. Grande also called in pop-culture symbol Madonna to voice the speech that plays in the video. Grande no doubt wants to gain traction by calling in experience girl-power icons.
Even more disturbing, the scene continues as Grande stands in between two spread female legs that tower over her frame. The private parts of this woman are obscured by light that alludes perhaps to the ability that God gives life.
The last 30 seconds of the song chant, “God is a woman!” with a chorus of female background singers. The last image in the music video shows Grande’s rendition of the Sistine Chapel piece “Creation of Adam.” Here, Grande and another nude woman mimic the creation story by posing as the subjects of the portrait.
Grande is known as a feminist, but sadly, by liking the feminist conversation to God’s gender, Grande only fuels the fire of confusion.
“God Is A Woman” is one of many songs that try to empower women to feel pride in their gender. For instance, Cher’s “Woman’s World,” and “If I Were a Boy” by Beyoncé, also try to show that women need to be strong and society puts different pressures on women. It’s not wrong for women to feel proud of being women, but that isn’t the message that Grande communicates. Instead, Grande is actually suggesting the idea that God is a woman and a perverted idea of goddess worship that is contrary to biblical teaching…. Sorry Ariana, this song is provocative and misguided.
Despite Grande’s claims, God created gender. In Genesis, we see that God made man and woman. Because of this, God’s understanding of gender goes further than humans can even comprehend. So, proclaiming that God is a woman actually debases how God is larger than gender. You may call Him Dad, Father, Abba, or some variation as described in Scripture. Whether one likes it or not, God refers to Himself in masculine terms.
In her interview with ELLE Grande said: “The planets, the stars, there’s nothing more humbling than that **. We get so stressed about little things when, in the big picture, we’re just a speck of dust on this tiny planet in this enormous solar system that is also a speck in a huge, mysterious black hole situation, and we don’t even know what it is!” She takes a breath. “Thinking about how small we are, it’s crazy. We are nothing.”
While we can appreciate her recognition that the world is vastly full of wonders, her worldview is riddled with transcendental paganism, as is her music video portraying her as a “goddess”. As with all artists, Grande’s worldview spills over to her music and in this case, it’s completely twisted. Grande’s rendition of God seems to be a culmination of her own beliefs about the universe.
Grande currently ranks as the third most followed Instagram user with over 121 million followers. With such a large social media platform Grande doesn’t seem to mind the controversy of her work or comments; “Not everyone is going to agree with you, but that doesn’t mean I’m just going to shut up and sing my songs. I’m also going to be a human being who cares about other human beings.”
Grande’s new album, Sweetner, will release on August 17th.
This won’t be the first or last time we see God misrepresented, but truthfully, we’ve had enough."
